Kelim Gashgai Rug

The Gashgai are Turkish-speaking nomadic tribes living in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are reversible, flat-woven wool rugs featuring the characteristic slit-weave technique, where the weft creates small slits at the points where colors change. These rugs often feature traditional Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star patterns. Common colors used include blue, yellow, red, green, and beige.
